BIOGRAPHY
 
Dr. Bobby Korn is a board certified medical doctor and surgeon.  He is a full time faculty member and attending physician in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Shiley Eye Center in the University of California, San Diego. 
 
Dr. Korn completed undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.D. and Ph.D. studies with Nobel Laureates at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Following medical school, he completed training in Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego, where he was selected as the Chief Resident of Ophthalmology.  Following residency, he subsequently completed a two year ASOPRS-sponsored fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  

He sees patients and operates at the Shiley Eye Center, UCSD Thornton Hospital, UCSD Hillcrest Hospital, Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, Veteran's Administration Medical Center and the Inland Eye Center in Murrieta, CA. 
 
Dr. Korn regularly participates in local, national and international conferences where he lectures and performs live surgery to other physicians and surgeons.  As a medical scientist, Dr. Korn has published many peer-reviewed papers and textbook chapters. His research interests include thyroid eye disease, ocular oncology, and adult stem cells. 

Dr. Korn is a member of numerous societies including:

     - American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

     - American Medical Association

     - California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons

     - California Medical Association

Dr. Korn has been the recipient of multiple awards including:

     - Star Recognition Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for the highest rated instructional course

     - Marvin H. Quickert Award for the most outstanding thesis by an ASOPRS fellow

     - Outstanding Teacher Award for 5 consecutive years at UCSD (2004-2008)

As an active member of the community, Dr. Korn volunteers his time providing free surgical care to the underprivileged. He regularly participates in humanitarian missions and has been a guest lecturer and surgeon in Mexico, the Philippines and Thailand.
